it is an inviting pub. ive used it for years right back to the days when it used to have groups on 1960s my dad and one of the regulars in the pub helped to build it in the late 50s i think it was. ive seen many changes here.
why not try it on a sunday afternoon from about 2pm til 4.30 in the lounge, we have a good laugh.you can join our table if you like , its the one that grows every week at the side of the bar,

well how disgusting, iafter a very stressfull day visiting my daughterinlaw in intensive care in hospital, i called at my local the game cock hotel at harworth
i dont drink but like to socialise, i had 2 diet cokes. i use the pub every saturday and sunday lunch times.just before closing time, the relief manager who has the hophole pub at ollerton startrd bragging about the brewery spending 4 million pounds on refurbishing his pub, i said this was refurbished and look at it now.
he said in his words, well if you wernt stealing the proffits, i said what do you mean and he said well ian (the previous landlord)told me personally thatyou were going behind the bar and helping yourselves, i said hold on ive never ever and never seen anyone else in this pub go behind the bar and help themselves.
he said yeh right with arrogant attitude and a nasty look. i said look here ive worked at this pub on more than one occasion and helped out regular when daphne and steve were in charge of the pub and if i was a thief they would not have had me back to work there.
i am a very honest person and value my name.
i am 59 years old and did not deserve this from a relief manager chewing gum
i do not even know this man i felt shown up and angry, i have quite a few witnesses to this and as i left the pub he followed me out to the door of which a customer from the tables outside got up and told him how arrogant he was, he then locked the door,i want an appology for this or i will be seeing my solicitor and looking at a case for slander. i am sending a copy of this to Mr Smith to ensure he reads it.
please check my work record Mr Smith, my name is  sue toon
daphne and steve would never ever allowed any of their staff to eat or chew gum behing the bar
so much for a quiet drink

I had a bit of business nearby today so I called in for a quick half  ( :( Driving)

The Gamecock is what I would call a estate pub.  The room we (mrs ian and myself) went into was very big but split in two.  Around 10 old timers in. A bit of banter but no swearing, no dogs, no children.  The place was clean and tidy, the toilet where clean but maybe ready for a makeover.  Beer spot on and served with a smile.  What more can I say.

I will post photo's later on the Game Cock pub thread.

hi ian, sorry but you are a few months too late with your visit.
the revues were about previous landlords
since the new ones have taken over the toilets and pub are miles cleaner.
everyone may not be happy with how things are run but it is still the best, friendliest, cheapest pub in harworth.its a socialising pub where young and old all mix together and have a laugh.
by the way , anyone reading this i am conveying this message to ian who seems to come from or frequently visits the red lion in leeds, i think the pub is, not ian the previous landlord who had far more staff and dirty loos
