Summer season - lack of news?
« on: Sep 22 - 2009 »
In the absence of news I will have to resort to another story! My sources tell me that some time ago Humphrey had cause to call the decorators in to his palatial home, with the intention of decorating one of the substantial ground floor reception rooms. His wife duly chose a rather expensive 'chinese restaurant' style flock wallpaper but sadly it seems the poor contractor had to inform Humphrey that the allocated budget would only allow three walls to be papered. The solution? - why obviously leave one wall unpapered of course!

Maybe in the future when Humphrey dies he may have a son who could take over and put everything back to how it used to be, or does he not have a son.

Sadly, quantity not quality!  :P

The number of stars indicate a rank which is relative to the number of posts made.

HRW Smith - spouse info here

OGW Smith - spouse info here

It would seem that they are still quite sexist, so it would seem currently unlikely that any daughter would take over. Which means that a possible successor would be..

Samuel Geoffrey Gladstone Smith (21 in December)

I thought you did'nt have to work more than 39 or 40 hours on any job as it would be overtime payed at overtime rate. Where does this 48 hours come from.

The lack of posts of late suggests to me that Humphrey is behaving himself.

There are few rules about the length of the working week, or about overtime. Many jobs frequently have to work more than 40 hours (doctors, others in the NHS, police, farm workers, military, retail etc etc) and many people don't get paid overtime.

The 48 hours referred to is the Working Time Directive which limits work to 48 hours per week unless the worker signs an opt-out.

Google ''Working Time Directive'' for more details.
