We got a rather brief visit at our local in Beverley last night. Blink, and you missed him!

He was only initially noticeable by his obligatory blue vinyl covered folder stuffed with white paper, under his arm - being carried almost as a badge of authority.

He looked a bit bedraggled, and after what seemed to be a brief word in the ear of the holding manager - he was off without his usual meander around.

It could have been something to do with it being a Friday at around 10pm - although it wasn't too congestive, not like it used to be. That came to an abrupt end after he sacked John and Jo. And the room upstairs (often closed by the recently dismissed managers) has only recently been continually re-opened by the holding manager (Richard) so it will take some time to build up again.

Maybe Humps wanted to get out quickly, to avoid any conversations with anyone else. Apparently a friend of mine politely called across to Humphs, "Good evening Mr Humphrey", but got no response. Maybe Humphs didn't hear him - or maybe he's got a lot on his mind!!!  ::)

In previous years, our pub (Nellies) has been beautifully decorated extensively throughout, by former manager, Anna - who clearly loved the festive season. She went to a great deal of effort. And although before escaping before last Christmas, had already decorated the place, ready for the take-over by the also popular John and Jo -who Humps should be approaching to manage the place now - if he must replace Richard in favour for a couple - remember Humps, you admitted that sacking them was an error of judgement - God has given you the opportunity to put right that wrong - but I'm sure that will never happen!!!  :(

So what will Christmas and new years eve be like this year? Well because of the closing times, and recent decline of the place - not so good I fear. I've already heard many, who used to always frequent the place over the holiday period, say they will be going elsewhere - including the soon-to-reopen, newly refurbished pub across the road - which has just become a free house, and do something beyond Sam's - aim to cater for their customers!

You see Humphs - selling cheap beer isn't the answer to everything!!
These are sad times :(

Out and about in Beverley, must have found some poor mug to drive him around then?

The blue file is probably a record of past stocktake results with all the surpluses and deficiencies etc, so they can pick holes in everything you have done, Fran also carries one and doubtless has a car boot full, its amazing how far they can go back too, a modern day brewery rep is armed with a laptop and all the info on spreadsheets...lol

Sams are no doubt still counting using ye olde abacus..I often wonder what the catalyst will be that brings about a change, because a change must surely be acoming.

There has been stories around for a while now that young Samuel will be taking over some day in the not too distant future, lets hope that when (and if) it happens he will given a free reign to try and drag SSOB into the 21st century because things cannot carry on forever in this manner, they must have lost millions in the past 4-5 years with some of the insane decisions they have made.

Ive also heard that some of the least productive pubs may be demolished and the land sold for housing.
Anyone else heard the same rumour?
Beware the toes you tread on today are not attached to the leg that supports the arse that you are gonna have to kiss tomorrow.

Heard a rumour this week and I must stress at this point is rumour.
That Humphrey had all his car windows smashed in Hull recently.
Also heard that he is in court very soon for using a mobile whilst driving.
He is expecting to lose his licence as he already has 9 points :D
This would link in with previous post
about the advert for a driver hours 5pm - 1am
Can anyone shed a bit more light on either subject?
For those who understand, no explanation is needed.
For those who don't understand, no explanation is possible.
