Hi have been busy of late but a merry christmas and a happy new year to you all. Lets hope too that Humph make a new years resolution to treat everyone who works for him like human beings if that's possible.

To All:

For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.

Happy New Year.

Having read all the messages posted by andrew twelvetrees using sherlock holmes 's rule of thumb that when all avenues of an investigation have been exhausted what is left must be the truth. Given this I am of the opinion that 12 trees is no other than Humphrey himself or his ghost writer. What do you guys think????

Although I've never met Mr Humphrey Smith, I feel I've got to know the man quite well through the pages of this website and through talking to people who have met him. My conclusion is that ATT is definitely not HS and that he has no connection with SSOB - he is just another interested one time customer like myself, but one that doesn't seem able to see the wood for the trees if you'll forgive the pun!

BTW 'Happy New Year' to all our readers!

Everyone has a good side, even Mr Smith.

If he has, then he would certainly seem to keep it very well hidden!  ;)

I get many email messages which I can not post at this site, for fear of implicating innocent individuals who would then become Humphs next victims. Needless to say, by all account, the man's actions are becoming very concerning. He would appear to have lost any signs of compassion, and lost any 'business sense' direction - simply trying to profit with unfair (if not illegal) exploitation of willing but naive (through inexperience), new staff - who end up doing an unrealistic amount of hours work, just to keep a place running legally, safely, whilst best accommodating customer needs.

It would appear that many managers recently dismissed, were done so on a whim, or personal dislike from Humphs, who doesn't seem very skilled at hiding what would appear to be a variety of discriminations. Colour, race, body size, sex - you name it.

He is allegedly renowned for wanting to get his own way - at any cost! In my book, that counts as 'inconsiderate selfishness' - and attending church on a regular basis would be the work of a hypocrite. If only he could see 'the light'?

Bring back the old Mr Humphrey Smith from the better days 10-15 years ago!
Always in support of the Samuel Smiths Brewery - although very concerned about the current company strategy towards its staff and customers, as exercised by the Directors. We believe in promoting common sense, decency, compassion, fairness and compliance with company, employment and English law.

One good aspect is that when he does decide to renovate one of his properties he does it properly using traditional building methods & designs that are sympathetic with the buildings architecture. One example is the Tadcaster vicarage (trouble is it took about 7 years to complete it), there are many more examples in Tad. He is keeping his direct works building department and his in house architects very busy. The pubs in London / Fitzrovia are also done to a high standard.

Also all the agricultural land that he owns around Oxton, Healaugh, Acaster Malbis is well looked after, all the fields have neatly cut hawthorn hedging and all the gates have been recently replaced. As you drive around it is easy to spot the SS land because so much tidier than the rest.

Other than the above examples i agree that he does alot more harm than good.
