drugs and thugs are a big problem in my local the new manager and his wife are a really nice couple he asked mr smith if he could get the police in to sort the problems out he got a sharp answer no it cost to much for the police he was told if he did not sort them out he would be out   .what is his problem with the police .has any of his other managers had the same answer from mr smith

Cost? If there's a problem the Police will indeed sort it out - for free, but Hump is probably concerned that they'll do it their usual way - by shutting the place down and shifting the problem elsewhere, along with the decent punters.
