I've seen the memo. The new range of snacks will be available from 22nd Feb, and will be delivered by the drays, which will prove interesting. Crushed bag of potato dust, anyone? The range is Plain, Cheese & Onion, Salt & Vinegar and Beefy, in a non-branded bag. Apparently the back will have some Sam Smiths branding but not a lot. In fairness I think this is a good idea as the snacks are likely to be somewhat better than McCoys Crinckle Cut Cardboards but the timing is appalling as he's already sacked United Biscuits. My local sold its last bag last night and won't get the new packs for nearly a month. Incredible.

Yes, originally these were supposed to be available for the last week in January, as onthedrink rightly says it is now to be 22nd February. Typical Sams couldn't organise a whatsit in a brewery!

The pubs have now sold out of stock so we can't have a nibble with our pint another example of SSOB whittling away our consumer rights - music, tellies, food, snacks what next - don't sell beer in case we enjoy that too! - Oh I forgot the therapeutic structure condoms!

On a positive note I do enjoy my Alpine angrybrew and Pure Brew but don't tell Humph and it will be nice to have traditional crisps instead of re-constituted Cadbury's Smash.

The snacks and nuts are quite nice but I would like to know who is producing them. the crisps taste remarkably like Seabrooks! (Bradford)  :)

In fairness I thought Seabrooks would have been the obvious choice, but they're absolutely nothing like them. Walkers Sensations seems to be the odds-on favourite.

Rumour control calling!! once upon a time SS did make an offer, some time ago, to buy the Seabrook factory but came to nowt.
Would be most surprised if they had anything to do with Walkers as that company is now owned by Pepsico and would against the traditional Britishness of SS :-*

A few years ago, he was trying to buy the paper mill @ Newton Kyme to convert that into a crisp factory. It never happened & the mill is still empty.

Too be fair it does not matter who makes them the crisps (as my customers have stased) are really tasty and good value for the money, a nuts a nut unless its the NO1 nut (MR SMITH) and the cheese cardboard is exactly like every other cheese biscuit salty and horrid.
i am not a Mr Smith fan worked for him for too long, but this is not a bad idea if it saves the company money, the spirits worked well, but all of these money saving schemes are a drop in the ocean compared to the waste and excesses Mr Smith causes the company by being mean and dishonest with his staff,  i wonder how much the company has forked out in hush money, and the cost to the buisness of changing managers every few months, driving the customers into the arms of the competitors. This guy is an arsehole his father would be turning in his grave, at least when he was alive he respected his staff and what do we get of his son, no pay rise, no bonus anymore, money taken out of bonds for an imaginary stock percentage. if there is a God please give us a change of chairman and pretty soon.

I was  told by a good source that Planters are supplying the nuts but I was not aware that they made crisps. I know it does not really matter who makes them, I was just curious!

I'm not known for praise where SS is concerned, but the crisps are good, way better than the McCoys we had to suffer. 60p in my local.

On the other side, I watched 6 prospective eaters of the ping pies walk out because credit cards are a thing of the past... Oh dear!
