Service Hygiene
« on: May 18 - 2010 »
Dear Mr Smith,

I trust you are well  :-* unfortunately ive got another sore throat after visiting one of your pubs to enjoy your fine beer which is great but some training is needed for your voluntary bar people. I wont mention the place but the new crew seem to have no clue about germs from the cash they handle and hygiene as they get the glasses down holding the glass lip then server the beer holding the rim that you drink from  ??? The other day i asked the young lad if he could possibly serve me my beer without holding the rim and he told me to feck off  >:( and also said that he wasnt a paid barman but his dad was the landlord  :o Someone else whos in there alot said that he never ever washes his hands  :o yuk. Please please please can you let you staff know in your next newsletter to not hold the drinking part of customers glasses and maybe wash hands now and again  :D Thankyou.

Love Nicky  :-* :-* :-* :-*

This seems to be a general issue in many pubs.  As a barman myself, I always hold the glass at the bottom (by the stem if a tulip or below the dimple or by the bottom third if a straight pint glass - jugs by the handle - much more civilised!!).  If I collect empty glasses, I always wash my hands afterwards to prevent contamination.

It's just good practise and I would expect no less from any of the staff I work with and at least the same if I am served a pint.

DB.
