Gaming machines in Sams pubs?
« on: Apr 7 - 2010 »
Hi there,

I've just started work with a new company supplying digital gaming machines to the pub trade. I've never worked in the industry before but I'm really getting into it and in an effort to try and impress my new bosses I thought I do a bit of research into Sams pubs to see if there was an opportunity available, and also get involved with one of my favourite pub chains (although I do see it's not all it's cracked up to be on the other side of the bar!)

Just wondered if any kind soul could help me with finding out a little bit of info - mainly with regards to whether Sams pub are tenanted or managed , and if Sams has a manager responsible for machines, or indeed whether machines are still going to be a part of the estate anyway!

I sincerely hope the current issues resolve themselves with the managers etc as I have very fond memories of enjoying some cracking beers in Sams pubs in and around York, and I'd hate to see them disappear off the face of the Earth!

As far as I'm aware there is only one tennanted pub left - the Ebor Inn at Bishopthorpe - all others seem to be managed. As far as gaming machines go, here's a company that reckon they do business with Sam Smith and RBNB Oakwell :-

Thanks for that - I know the Ebor Inn well!

Who would I need to contact within Sams to discuss our machines?

I dont know if they have anyone specifically designated to deal with gaming machines but you can be sure that any dealings for any service or supplier will have to have Humphrey's approval, so I would start there....Good luck.

I think you will find that the poison dwarf(o'brian) was the man in charge of the machine's. Don't know though, whether he is still with Sam's, cos he was due to retire.
