Forget about the customers!!
« on: Aug 12 - 2008 »
Has anyone got a full copy of the *directive* to accompany the latest menu's - issued by his lordship Humphrey Smith? It's the one that makes some comment to the effect of '..we are not hear to please the customers..'!  :o

The 'rant' is obviously from HS - identifiable with a semblance of rambling diction errors!

..Is their a psychiatrist in the house?  :-\

It's all enough to enervate even the most loyal of staff!

the full copy reads:

`Our policy is that we should not offer any special menus to any functions :- christenings, funerals, bus parties, whatever. We are to have one menu ( the printed menu we are moving on to) and in principal we do not serve the menu outside of our normal food service times. If parties, bookings etc wish to partake of what we offer amongst out other regular customers with the same range of choice and meals as are available to them and within the same service times, fine; otherwise we cannot unfortunately give them what they want( giving people what they want not in any case being Samuel Smith`s strong point).

We as you well know have limited staffing hours, both in the hours worked by the managers and in the hours of paid help managers are allowed to organise the business within, we do not want to expend these limited hours (either managers or staff) on accommodating special requirements (buffets, conferences with coffees in private rooms etc etc). Our business relies on regular trade from regular customers serving them and building our trade in that way and is how we want to use our resources and time and space.

Thats is it word for word and using the same grammer as the letter.

Enjoy

Thank you very much for taking the time to post (word-for-word) the circular.  :)

Now it will be interesting to see what those who have not seen, nor heard of this circular, think!

So thats another source of income gone. The brewery may as well ban christenings and funerals, any I have been to have been buffet style, can anyone imagine having a funeral or christening using the standard menu and sat in the middle of other diners?
As regards building 'regular trade from regular customers' I left my usual Sams pub at 9.45 last night for a bit of life. There were 2 people in the lounge maybe 6 in bar. What regular customers?

Personally, I would phone a few newspapers, and see if any arae interested in the story - and have some photocopies of that circular ready to send out - or if you can, scan a copy that can be emailed if required.

If you manage to do the latter - I will host a copy, with a link from here :-)

"Our business relies on regular trade from regular customers serving them and building our trade in that way and is how we want to use our resources and time and space."

Then why are you HS and your sidekick FOB doing your damndest to drive us 'regular customers' all away and destroying the ambiance of the pubs that many of your staff have worked so hard over the years to build up????

As I have previously stated I left a while ago but what Hump does does,nt surprise me any more.He needs serious educating in grammar my six year old grandson writes more clearly.
The newspapers would have a field day with all the court cases pending and how F.O.B treats his managers. It was mentioned F.O.B.was only fined for beating his girlfriend badly, how did he keep his job?reason:it was not in works time, therefore I could have have done the same to my wife on our day off and not been sacked.[I dont think so].

Can i ash Hump Smith to explain why he is not following his own dictate : i.e.

Our business relies on regular trade from regular customers serving them and building our trade in that way and is how we want to use our resources and time and space.

He is certainly not in any way shape or Form in the Barley Corn Scholes.
