I know of at least eight venues who are suffering the same - people going elsewhere for their grub. And I've only heard the news from (so far) - yes you've guessed it - 8 pubs!  :(

has anybody had any feedback from their area managers? cutting hours is one thing, crucifying your business is another. from being fully booked thurs to sat nights, this week we did none. not a single f*****g meal. just waiting for the phonecall soon to cut hours even more. better off shutting. needless to say, already looking for another "managerial" job. one which entails runnuing a pub, not running around in a pub like an idiot, trying to do ten jobs at once.  >:(

Quite agree Icefire, Its one thing retaining a Pubs Character by lack of Music, TV etc, No provision for smokers, and now a really shortsighted compulsory Menu, and all this at what cost ?   " EMPTY PUB. " Probably see you down the road for one with the competition when you are closed.

If you take the plastic off it does actually taste a little better.

I'm sure if prepared correctly, the pies (etc.) may taste OK, to those who either don't mind, or who are used to microwave food. But I think you are missing the bigger picture here (or you are just trying to wind people up  ;) ).

When compared to the extensive range of 'on site' prepared food, and a range of prices to suit those from passing snacks, to locally popular meals, then I'm afraid there's no comparison what so ever.

I used to buy the smaller snacks - but as they are no longer available, I'll pop into the local Tesco's for a quick snack lunch. And surprise, surprise, I see a number of ex sams meals customers there.

But hey, don't take my word for it - just ask any sams pub manager to give you a comparison between the old and the new, on; 1) quantities sold (which also pull in wet trade), and 2) Turnover / GP.
