A letter from Humphrey RW Smith
« on: Sep 15 - 2008 »
What do you mean - you don't like our pies!?

A previously loyal Samuel Smith customer, wrote to Humphrey Smith at the brewery - to convey his dismay, regarding the change in menu - and cessation of the previously 'home cooked' meals, and snacks.

This customer (who's identity we shall withhold for obvious reasons), then received a hand written reply from HS - explaining that the new frozen meals, from their own Sarah Brownridge food factory - should be indistinguishable from 'home prepared' (i.e. not frozen) - and just as nutritional. This is based on his own personal comparison experience, based on when his wife serves fresh, or previously frozen food.

However, HS fails to address the core complaint - which relates to the menu content.

It's also worth noting, that whilst it is in someways admirable, that HS should take the time to prepare the reply by his own hand - one can't help thinking that in this day and age, a typed (computer printed) one would have presented a more professional image, and be far more legible.

The customer who received the letter, has made it available for someone to scan and email to us. Which is posted below..

Always in support of the Samuel Smiths Brewery - although very concerned about the current company strategy towards its staff and customers, as exercised by the Directors. We believe in promoting common sense, decency, compassion, fairness and compliance with company, employment and English law.

Crikey

I guess this is another reason why Anna is leaving the white horse (nellies) after a very long career with sams.  I wrked in the vaults in lincoln  with/for her and in the kitchen there, the home made food was excellent, and we allways had a fullpub 12 till 2 for the food, the processed muck on offer now is more like the dreaded spoons!

Does anyone know why Anna is actually leaving?
