I am finding the consistent, complaining about the eminent Smith family very biased, surely like me, there must be other people in Tadcaster who may have good things to say about them.  :o

Smell the roses, its not biased, it's just a glimpse of the reality. Dracula being a blood-sucker, can't have experienced the upheaval at a Sams venue, coming from Acomb, York by the look of things.

Dracula, 12trees - face the facts, no matter how hard you try, you can't polish a sh*t!!  ;)

The nicest thing I can say about HS is that he made us see the light, waved his true colours on a large flag for all to see giving us the chance to escape to freedom.

Dear Humphry Smith,

The Sun Inn, Lepton, Huddersfield

Lepton has suffered more than most with the decline of the pub trade losing the White Horse, The Tandem and the Spring Grove in recent times. The Sun is the last proper pub (as opposed to food outlet serving drinks) in the area. However its owner, Enterprise Inns, has put it up for sale at ?275,000 with Fleurets.

Most of the regulars believe this to be the death knell. The Sun has had its fair share of ?muppets? running it in recent times but the current relief manager, Denis Murphy, who works for ABC is doing a good job doing the basics right and keeping troublemakers out.

Would Sam Smith's Brewery consider buying the pub and selling its excellent beers?

Ian Hunter ? customer and Sam Smith's ales fan.

This is an interesting question - and something I've been pondering for some time - given the state of the pub trade generally and Humphrey's obvious long term view of property and heritage - is there any evidence of him getting his cheque book out recently and snapping up a bargain?

Sam Smith's have provided jobs and security for the people of Tadcaster and surrounding area for a long time, in exchange for this, a site has been set up by person/persons with an axe to grind, and in my opinion, hidden agendas. If working for Sams and living in the area is so bad, try making long term plans to, perhaps move. Count your blessings, that is my advice.
An innocent Bystander.

Dracula, In my experience, a majority of people on this forum are supportive of a lot that SS does.  However, many people also have concerns which they'd like to raise, but don't have a vehicle to do so.  Some people have employment issues, some customers have (food) quality issues (including myself).  Many of us here are just interested in SS and their pubs.  Myself, I like to know where the pubs are so that when I am travelling about the country I can get a decent pint at a decent price, especially when I am in London.  I am also appreciative of the fact that the keg beers are approved by the Vegan Society.  Some people like a pub with a jukebox, I am neutral on this one (some pubs are suitable for a jukebox, others are not). I also am not impressed with the removal of live music from pubs (Whitby pub, for example).

So you see, this forum is by far totally negative.  A lot of positives exist and I frequently advocate the ?1.99 London pint to my friends.

Dracula,  Talking to SS managers I must admit some are very much in favour of  Humphry. But I do think your P*ssing against the wind, in trying to start a fan club on this forum.

Dracula, this is an open forum.  We both praise and criticise SS where we think is necessary.  A lot of it is opinion, but also a lot of it is fact.

I think Darkieboy is right.  I myself love going into Sam Smiths pubs,  We've got 8 more lined up next week.

Dracula, have a look at this BBC video:

I am not saying it is balanced, but it certainly is interesting.
