Memo from HS regarding food policy..
« on: Oct 15 - 2008 »
This is a memo from HS, with reference to the new food policy (sticking with the 'ping pie' menu)..

Always in support of the Samuel Smiths Brewery - although very concerned about the current company strategy towards its staff and customers, as exercised by the Directors. We believe in promoting common sense, decency, compassion, fairness and compliance with company, employment and English law.

Christ its like working for Ebeneezer Scrooge, bah humbug...lol
You couldn't make it up, in fact I talk to friends who have never been in a Sams pub and they are staggered at what is happening, some of them are fellow businessmen and laugh when I tell them, one guy refused to believe me, point blank, and thought that this site was a wind up p--stake.
Unfortunately its not, His first words he spoke after he'd seen it was, "what do the staff and customers think of it all"?  Then he saw some of the posts from customers and stafff/ex staff and he was speechless!!!

Pity it wasn't all a bad dream, shame cos it could be soooo different, they have some fantastic little boozers, some of them used to be noted for food too.

Roll on the revolution.

Having just re-read the memo again, you've got to laugh at this bit..

"Giving people what they want not in any case being Samuel Smith's strong point"

Initialed 'HS' - Humphrey Smith

So I don't know if I'm reading it correctly, as it's badly phrased - but is this a confession that Samuel Smith's are not very good at fulfilling their customers requirements?  :D
