This is an excellent annalagy of the now very serious financial problems
that Sam Smiths are now facing, and a profile of the manical court
jester that unwittingly created them through sheer business ignorance
and indifferent management policies forced upon his managers & staff,
Humphrey Smith ironicaly reminds me of Adolf Hitler in his Berlin bunker
as the Red army approached ever nearer to cement his downfall,as will
financial institutions cement Humphrey Smiths,it,s just a pity it wont be
in the form of an overcoat .

was in tadcaster last night and went to 2 sams pubs, staff very pleasant but the pubs were cold and dreary it was like sitting in an old train station waiting room, no food on ofcourse no shelter for smokers no heating, no anything, felt quite depressed when i left and then saw the new poster saying everyone had to be out for 11.30 which i thought was funny, be lucky if anyone would want to stay till the end because i certainly wouldnt, 1 of these pubs used to be the best food house in tadcaster, and its a disgrace to say its in tadcaster.what do the people of tadcaster think? so we went to a real pub in thorner, fire blazing as it was cold and wet last night, football on in the bar, background music in the lounge, smoking shelter, beer a bit dearer but worth it to get away from the depressing atmosphere of sams, people should start voting with there feet because nothing else will work, smith doesnt seem to want customers in his pubs, i know the beer is good and cheap but who in their right mind would want to give him any custom when he clearly doesnt want it, he has clearly lost his mind and if he hasnt he should hang his head in shame for what he has done to a once great brewery. and as for the little weasel fob lets hope he gets his come uppance one day.

Thats a very good description of Sams pubs at the moment. They are like a great beast that has passed its prime and now cant be bothered to compete with the rest of the herd anymore and is simply waiting to die. If they are like this in Tadcaster, the very home of the brewery, then god help the ones further afield. In fact god help them all, until the madness of Humphrey is ended I dont think there will be any respite.

Understand the tribunal results are still awaited. The wheels of justice turn exceedingly slowly!

I don,t know about Sams struggling but have just found out my local Sams pub is getting a major overhaul,Hump was telling the tribunal he has no money and the banks were stopping overdraft facilities, yet he comes up with thousands to do major refurbs. Will probably hammer the staff hours as an excuse to help pay for it. :o

Interesting you should say that. My local has just had a complete new kitchen fitted, new fire alarm and emergency lighting (although looks terrible, not in sympathy of a 15th century pub - don't think humphs would be too happy if he was to have a look - hint!  ;) ), also it looks like they're are spending a fortune on the flat and adjacent building.

I wish I had that much dosh when financially things were tight!
These are sad times :(
