Well today Grumpy Humpy gave us the boot! Said he came to do a stocktake and cash check, but we've just found out that he had relief managers in place 15 mins before he even entered the premises!!!!!
When he told us that we were fired he gave us a "couple" of hours to remove ourselfs and our property from the premises..... Thats everything we own as well as sort our 2 very young children!!!
Humph has definatly proved himself to be the heartless man that he is as when i said to him "where do you expect us to go at this short notice" he replied "thats not my problem!"..... when i said to him "fine i'll grap a sleeping bag and sleep on the streets with my babies" he replied "you can take your daughters quilt!!!"

Humpty numpty has took every penny we had including the bond... Wages.... and ?500 that was in a clearly marked envelope from my father as a present!!!! So not only are we now homeless but pennyless too!!

I wonder who stole his concience coz if i did what he did today i wouldn't be able to sleep at night!!!

This cant be true!
I am pretty sure that even if you have been dissmissed for gross missconduct they still have to give you 4 week notice to leave the flat.
Was you stock and cash short? and if so why?
I have heard that they make you pay any shortages back which I supose is fair enough, why did they not give you the option to do this.

I'm afraid all is true! Even though this morning it still seems sureal!

The claimed our stock was low and accused us of drinkin the stuff!!! BUT.... and i know this might shock fellow publicans.... me and my husband dont drink!!! And Humph knew this!!

When i told him he couldnt expect us to get out today... he said well you will be.... my husband said he's have to phone the police to escort us off.. we have rights... humph replied it wont be the police i call to remove you!!! and that was infront of 2 small children!! H Smith has crossed the line!

My first reaction (well second actually, as I'll be breaking our own website rules to post the first) is to call the police and report the '?500 as theft with menace', and contact the newspapers and TV immediately - also point them towards this site so that they can see it is typical, rather than unique - make for a bigger story, and will get more media interest. I would say this is the most effective way to get things resolved in some way - but you need to do it right now.

I will post some more when I calm down a bit.

Would you mind (if that's OK) letting us know some more info, such as which pub, and what reason he gave for the actions he was taking other than the stock problem allegation - if any?

Someone on this site actually accused me of using this site to make an unwarranted attack on H Smith - well that person knows who he is, and after reading your (cookoo's) post, I hope that person realizes that this site is part of a defence - and not an attack.

why has he waited till he's been kicked out? if you've got problems let people know. why did he vacate? what's humphrey going to do? if some muppets turn up, telling you to vacate, shut the door & call the police. humphrey would love that splattered across the local rag.

Admin -  Thanx for the offer of your help and we'd really appreciate any that you give us.
How can i prove that im innocent?? I feel this is a major set up as humph turned up with a locksmith and the relief managers on their way, before anything had been looked at!! We'd been there 5 weeks and not heard anything from him, then all of a sudden he turns up and boots us out!

The reason we didnt put up a fight at the time was because of the children, at only 2yrs old and 5 months old i wasnt pepared for what might come! That and the locksmith had ALREADY made a start on changing the pub locks before we'd even been given the boot!!!

Having to prove you are innocent, should not really be the case. In this country you are supposedly innocent until proven guilty.

Any further communication with anyone at the brewery should be recorded or better still, done in writing so that you have copies and a log.

Young family given 2 hours to leave home!!

A young family who had taken over as managers of a pub at Cleethorpes (the Crows Nest) only 5 weeks ago, were threatened and immediately made homeless by an eccentric multimillionaire brewery boss, for reasons which he appears to have fabricated. They also had ?500 of their own money pinched by him!

I couldn't believe my eyes, when yesterday (8th November), I logged on to my 'Unofficial Samuel Smiths Brewery website' forums. I read the post from a desperate young mother, who was completely bewildered. Humphrey Smith - the brewery boss - gave the family (with children of 2yrs and the other of just 5 months) just 2 hours to get out, whilst he had the locks changed. Furthermore, he withheld their wages and bond, leaving them penniless.

This follows a continual escalation in 'beyond belief' policies - which are driving away staff and customers alike.

Cookoo, as a former employee of these cretins, I sincerely wish you the best of luck and hope you sue the c---s for every billion they have....because they (he) does not deserve one penny of the hard earned inheritance his ancestors left him.

What with our support, Admins media input, and maybe your own resolve, you will get somewhere with this....after all you don't really have much left to lose, he's already took most of it!!

Thank you so much for all the support and advice we've recieved.
When this all happened and i was stood outside surrounded by all my childrens essentials stuffed into black bin bags and both my children sobbin i thought my world had just crashed down on me and there was nothing we'd be able to do!
But after coming on here, this site was shown to us by the previous managers, and reading that we're not the first and by far the least for this to of happened to, we feel that we need to pursue this further and make sure that it doesnt happen again!
it was only a few nights previous to humph destroying our lifes that my husband and i was talking about how it was about time we'd got some luck and how our children now had the prospect of a decent future!
I know humph didnt go home that night and think to him self, "how could i of just done that". Instead he probably though "thats another decent, hardworking couples future i've destroyed".... *whilst rubbing his hands and pocketing our money*
