Funnily enough, probably like lots of others and you too. we also saw our lovely pub as the start of something new and at last something good was happening.

It was in a fantastic town, with wonderful people and the future seemed bright, alas it was not to be, the dream was shattered by tyranical management, long hours and no light at the end of the tunnel.
Fortunately we had the resources and the good sense to sack them...long before they ever had the chance to f--k us over, as we had taken the pub at short notice I refused to pay a bond, so they didn't even have that hold on us either.

As I said we were fortunate because I have a vast experience of management at a higher level than most of the area managers at Sams and there is no way I would ever let the tw-ts get the upper hand.

But like everyone else I couldn't win the whole game, they always win that one, we jumped before they had a chance to push.
You are certainly not alone, as you can see from this site there are plenty of us, and we all wish you the very best of luck,  I am sure I can speak for the majority and say that you will get full support and advice should you need it.
Beware the toes you tread on today are not attached to the leg that supports the arse that you are gonna have to kiss tomorrow.

Update..

With the permission from 'cookoo', I have contacted all of the national newspapers, and the ones local to the pub that they were at.

I have also been in touch with the BBC, ITV and their local Member of Parliament.

The pub trade journalists have also been informed - including The Publican, and Morning Advertiser.

At least 2 of the nationals, and others (mentioned above) have shown some serious interest, not only in this specific incident, but as the 'bigger picture'.

If anyone comes across any related editorial - then please let me know, so that I can post in our archives.

Meanwhile, let's just hope that with the assistance of the media, justice can be achieved and further alleged crimes against management staff and customers averted.

Info....
We recieved a call from the Morning Advertiser last night and had a great conversation with him. He too has offered us support and is looking to contacting Humph, although he said he has written many a story on good old humph and he usually gets the "No Comment" reply when he contacts!  We havent heard from any other media at present but hoping that someone wants to run the story and get it out there! We're also seeing Citizens Advice tomorrow to get full legal advice to see exactly where we stand in this situation!

ARWEN - What brewery is it that you now work for?? At first it put us off wanting to carry on but we've got the "pub buzz" now and would like another (better) opportunity!

Any updates on "cuckoo's" situation? I found the story extremely disturbing and alas not unfamiliar. Does anyone know if any media outlet is following their story?

Well we had a meeting with a member of our MP's office and he is now looking into the legal side of things for us i.e Employment and housing law. He had also been intouch with Shelter and we're getting intouch with them as they are interested in whats happened to, so finally getting the ball rolling after few hiccups (like citizens advice NEVER being there!!)

Just like the rest of you, I experienced the charms of FOB. I became a single parent to a disabled child and he wanted me to move to another pub. When I explained that my child has needs, he retorted that other area's can accomodate. He hasn't got a clue what my child's needs were then or even now.
I have now moved on like the rest of you as the pressure from FOB was unbelievable. He said I was stale and incapable of being a good employee. He now has a couple in the pub who dont smile at the customers or make them feel welcome. They sit behind the bar and moan that they are having to work. If this is the new way of performing as a Sam Smith employee, then Im afraid I am too skilled for the company.
Mr Smith needs to get a grip on his company and realise that FOB is trying to destroy what his father created.

Oh how I would love to see it splashed all over the "Tonight" programme, you must keep us informed as to whether they are going to use it and when etc...
They wont like that up at Tadcaster Towers.

..and yet more news..

Just had an email back from the Governments Weights and Measures dept., replying to my message, and saying 'they would look into things', regarding my suggestion that management and staff were being forced in to pulling short pints, to keep their stock profit margin unrealistically high.

So we'll have to keep our fingers crossed on that one too.
