The Electric Spy
« on: Nov 17 - 2008 »
News just in - from the Brewery offices, covert surveillance system..   ;)

New electronic Electric Meters, are to replace existing old-type meters at all of Sams pubs, etc.

This will allow his lordship to see what percentage of electricity is consumed during closed hours.

However, I feel I must remind him, that his ping-pie freezers continue to operate, and consume electricity intermittently throughout the night. Further power may be consumed by fire, CCTV, and security systems, maintained and non-maintained emergency lighting and fire exit signs. Also, in some cases, heating, or heating control systems. Cellar refrigeration. And possibly much more!

Yet another totally absurd waste of money, I presume he will have to pay to have new meters installed at 400+ pubs, its gonna cost a fortune and for what, to scrimp back a few quid off managers for power consumed after hours, the bloke is definitely not a full box of matches.

Once went to a managers meeting with fob, he was moaning about how he had been in several of his pubs and the fans were all running, with the smoking ban now in place he said there was absolutely no need for them to be on and in fact the family were seriously considering removing them from all of their pubs.
So...electrical contractor costs for their removal, a builders/joiners bill for making good the hole in the wall, and some sort of repair to the decor (if you were really lucky) all this X 400+ pubs, and all to save a small amount of electricity as presumably the fans would only be on in warmer weather...when we get some!!

Some of the sh-te they come up with must be written by a comedy script writer.
Beware the toes you tread on today are not attached to the leg that supports the arse that you are gonna have to kiss tomorrow.

Not really surprised by this news. Everyone knows that as soon as the last customer leaves, the landlord is straight to bed, not having anything to do before opening time the following day. Therefore any electricity used during closing hours must be being used for illicit and subversive activities! This must not be permitted, because only senior management can use power to illuminate their offices until silly o'clock and then prowl the streets trying to find some transgression (real or imagined) to use as an excuse to have a go at yet another poor manager.
Seriously though, this smacks of another of FOB's bright ideas, he is so tight he'd take the pennies from a dead mans eyes. We are all aware of the increase in energy prices (75% according to the missive from Taddy Towers) but we are not to blame for this situation and it is yet more evidence of the exploitative nature of the company that they try to clawback a paltry amount through the introduction of these meters. Makes you wonder what they'll cut back on next, seems there's not much left to go at.......suggestions on a postcard please, you all know the address! ;)

Nice one Admin; shall we also go with-; let's make the office staff happy by passing more and more paperwork onto the managers. how about ....Let's delegate all managers to pass on to their customers our new marketing policy. After all it's mind over matter! I.E, we don't mind and they don't matter.

This is not a new idea ::)

Some houses have multipul meters, set to read at different periods in 24hrs. Some have meters that will give at least three different tarif rates over 24hrs, activated by pulse from the supplier.  Based on the principle that electricity tarifs are different depending on the time of consumption. One house that i remember did and might still have economy 7 metering which would shut of all not needed circuits overnight, so care was needed in installing new equipment. ;)

All for a bit of conservation, you would do it in your own place? ???

Take a visit to MOJO services at Wetherby, and see how far you can go to save money. :)
