disgraceful behaviour!!!!!!!
« on: Oct 7 - 2010 »
whilst having a wander around a few old haunts recently in leeds city centre unfortunately walked into the general elliot and witnessed what i dont think ive seen bar staff do before, as i was made aware by a regular gobby was the nickname of the person, was swearing at customers telling them to f,off because she was shutting the pub 6PM(YES 6PM) then actually grabbed two gents drinks and poured down the sink again saying p,off, when a customer said this isnt right your not in charge she said so what no ones here so im in charge,
now i dont know about you folks but it upset me and the wife just watching it and i got some of it on mobile phone video.this cant be tolerated surely?? i remember being here a while back and the staff was nice, whats gone wrong?? im writing to the brewery and will send footage if asked for it..people paying good money should be able to enjoy thier pint without hassle/torment from anyone espeicially the staff >:(

I am very sorry to say that I've found this pub is going down hill.

Yes you are right. The language upstairs is a disgrace. Call me old fashioned but I don't like to hear swearing with ladies around.

I'm pleased someone is allowed to get on and do a good job.  However, please do not assume that this will remain.  Humph really is so unpredictable - one minute you are the bees knees and the next he will try anything to get you out.

The strange thing is that Humph does not usually leave people alone  - even those who are in favour.  If he is your regional manager and has only visited once then this is a definite sign of extremely poor management on his behalf.  A good manager will have regular reviews with those who they line manage - both when things are going right and when things are not quite right.  This would mean that any problems should be ironed out before they become big issues.

Watch out for the 23/24 month milestone and get everything in writing even if it means you having to write and confirm conversations with Humph and/or the brewery.  If things do start going downhill - keep a diary and makes sure that you do join a union.

Make sure Humph does not find out that you have visited this site.  He is paranoid about it but still refuses to post anything.  There really was a warning memo.

I agree that hard work doesn't kill anyone but hard work plus Humph being totally unreasonable combined with his unreasonable behaviour does.  Many very good managers have either been pushed out or forced to resign.

Good luck and I really hope you continue to be happy.

I know of a Sam's pub that will remain nameless where the loudest swearers in the pub are the managers.  Not a very good example to set to the customers.

Been also told that the beer that was once the best to be had is now crap.

Thats not a good image for themselves or for the brewery with so many manager leaving the company. I must say i have been in some very lively Sams pub on a Friday night in Leeds and Bradford and other places too.

;D If you are actually being left alone and allowed to manage, I suggest you offer up a prayer of thanks to your God and then keep your head down (not that that will help when Humph remembers that you are there!!)
